Prototype Critique

My book design is very simple. It is in a horizontal layout to allow for the illustrations to mimic a panoramic view. The prototype is fairly well constructed, with an overall pleasant shape. I am worried, however, about whether my book will catch a child's eye. The cardboard binding I used was a little awkward, so I hope to reduce its size and to also make it more receptive to the pages.

I plan on tinkering with the edges of my book. I'm thinking of making the edges rounded to give a feeling of comfort and innocence. I'm probably not going to use cardboard for the binding again. Instead, I will probably use fabric or something that can stretch to allow the book's pages to move well.
